Dear Odyssey Community,
I’m thrilled to announce my appointment as the 2025-26 Odyssey / Moser Family Writer in Residence. In this inaugural position, I’ll help shape and expand literary programming within the Odyssey lifelong learning program.
I’m passionate about ensuring access to arts education at every stage of life, and since receiving my MFA in poetry from the JHU Writing Seminars in 2022, I’ve had the privilege of designing and teaching courses for people of all ages. I’ve taught elementary, middle, and high school writers through Writers in Baltimore Schools; undergraduate students in the JHU Writing Seminars; Italian graduate students at the University of Napoli l’Orientale; and adults of all ages with Goucher College’s Prison Education Partnership (GPEP). I’ve seen how vital it is for all of us, no matter our moment in life, to cultivate curiosity, creativity, intellectual rigor, and imagination.
I’m so excited to bring my experiences as a writer and educator to the Odyssey community. In the coming months, look out for a fresh suite of online creative writing courses for lifelong learners, taught by alumni of the Writing Seminars. We’ll also be offering several new literary excursions in Baltimore and beyond. This might look like a trip to your local independent bookstore, or a tour of the archives at the Enoch Pratt Free Library, or a theatrical production of a play you’ve read together in class. Finally, we look forward to offering a series of online book talks with amazing local authors. This new programming is rooted in my belief that our collective moment calls for a reinvigoration of creative community, whether that means deepening our understanding of the rich literary traditions right here in Baltimore or connecting with alumni across the globe.
I look forward to being a member of the Odyssey team, and to all the envisioning we’ll do together this year, on and off the page.
Sincerely,
Gabriella Fee, JHU Writing Seminars ’22
